Lately...
Bright, cheery flowers punctuate the dismal, grey streets of this Parisian winter I already know so well. I'll forever be a sucker for flowers (and cats); they all but beg for me to take their portrait!

Waiting in the chaotic, stressful line at Chez Hanna to be rewarded with greasy falafels piled high and teetering dangerously with smoky, grilled slices of eggplant, crisp veggies, and lots of hot sauce please! (Though I must say, no hot sauce can match the fiery intensity of Mamoun’s in New York)

Each day, faithfully starting my mornings with salty sweet granola sprinkled over a bed of fromage blanc, and a soothing cup of roasted Genmaicha from Le Palais des Thés. As it happens every year around January, the winter’s cold has settled deep within my bones, and I can’t get enough of tea, comforting bowls of soup, and spooning my giant hot water bottle. I'm a grandma!

Cuddles and kitty kisses from Elya. Her pink little nose is the cutest.

I'm so so happy to be able to catch up with old friends, get to know this city again, and enjoy more than my fair share of croissants, chocolate, and my guilty pleasure, baguettes smeared with Kiri (it's cheese for kids, so of course I love it). And I’m thrilled to say, this week I successfully opened up a bank account AND a cell phone plan! No small feat for a foreigner in France, let me tell you! For now, as I settle in Paris, I’m staying with mon amour Yelena in her cozy little place in the 16th. Tonight, all that's on the menu is conversation and a languid stroll along the Seine, but I'm thinking Nutella crepes will make an appearance too.
Any fun plans for the weekend? Hope you have a good one :)

i'm not much of a cat person but that cat you pictured is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteyour evening plans sound so lovely and chill. i made hippie falafel last night for dinner and we're having the leftovers tonight. but we have big plans for the weekend: a comedy show, a new recipe to tackle and playing with my new camera lens.

Mmmm hippie falafel! Will have to check your blog to see if you posted the recipe :) And a new camera lens?! Always exciting!!
DeleteSounds like a perfect weekend. That falafel looks delicious as well - roasted eggplant is my favorite! Winter is rather dull and dreary, but endless cups of tea definitely helps.
ReplyDeleteCurrently drinking an endless cup of cinnamon tea as I type :)
